God Is On Our Side

But now, God’s Message, the God who made you in the first place, Jacob, the One who got you started, Israel: Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. 

When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down. When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead-end — Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. 

I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you. So don’t be afraid: I’m with you. (Isaiah 43:1-5a)

Even though the people of Israel were being rebellious toward God time and time again, in His great love, God did not forsake them, instead He reminded them who they were and who He was. In His never-ending love God was calling them by name, he was telling them they were His and He would always be there for them.

As His children we are not any different. Maybe sometimes we don’t realize it but God is there for us, in the moments when we might be in over our head, God promises we will not go down, because He is on our side, He is always there.

As a new father, I think about the future, a lot more now than before, about how I’m gonna be the provider for my family, how I need to be the father, the husband, the one who is responsible not only for the financial stability of our family, but also for the spiritual, emotional and relational well-being. This is definitely not an easy task and it can feel overwhelming if it were not for the assurance from our heavenly Father, that He is on our side, He is there when we’re between a rock and a hard place, promising it won’t be a dead-end, because He is God, our personal God, the One who will never leave us.

What an amazing reminder for all of us today, that we are not alone, never were and never will be, because our Father in heaven walks with us every step, through though times and happy times, when everything is falling apart and when everything falls into place, He is on our side!
